The Days Leading Up…

Hello Everyone,

My name is Tahoe (“mytahoe” by another name) and I am a 9 year old male Golden Retriever.

This is my first attempt ever at creating and posting a blog, so I hope you will forgive my clumsy pawstakes as I type away.  I wanted to write down my journey from the time of my initial injury to my front leg, through all the drs, tests, shaving of my fur in many places, to finally my owner having to make a terribly hard decision to amputate my right front leg.  I was diagnosed periarticular hystiocytic sarcoma (PAHS to be fancy) which was found to be localized.

My owner Stirling has been researching day and night trying to ready him and I for the amputation, as I know he feels torn by making the ‘decision’ but I know I will feel better and soon will be running, playing fetch and being my old self again.

My life is not a destination but one of a journey and I want to share life with as many 2 and 4-legged folks I can meet.

So, as I ready myself and my home for my return after surgery on Monday March 18, 2013, I wish everyone the best and a speedy recovery.

  1. Hi Tahoe! Monday will definitely be a tough day for your Dad. But you know what? All of the Tripawds Nation will be sending positive thoughts to you (and him), and before you know it, you’ll be back home where you belong! In the meantime, you and your Dad have a great weekend, spend plenty of time together, and try not to think too much about Monday (easier said than done, I know!!). We’ll be thinking of you big guy!!

  2. Welcome Tahoe and Stirling! We’re so glad you decided to start a blog, because every story here gives hope and education to someone else. Thank you!

We wish you all the best of luck this Monday. If you or your people need anything at all we are here for you OK? Keep us posted!

  3. Hello Tahoe! You are gonna do so well, buddy! Recovery may have a lot of ups and downs as your figure out how to balance, move, eat, poop, and play, but know your owner is there to help! Rest up and don’t play too hard those first few days…

    Keep us posted!
